Notable & Historical

A Neighbourhood Built on Determination

Seymour Heights’ expansion wasn’t without challenges—the northern section was once a swamp. When construction crews arrived, they unearthed a fully submerged Buick, a strange relic of the past. Despite the obstacles, the area was successfully developed into the vibrant, nature-connected community it is today.

Blueridge’s development took a different route, led by a private investor. Before it could expand, water rights had to be expropriated, allowing municipal services to reach the growing neighbourhood. Over time, it flourished into a green, family-friendly community with a strong sense of connection.

The Birth of Blueridge Good Neighbour Day

What began as a grassroots gathering in 1998 quickly became one of Blueridge’s most cherished traditionsBlueridge Good Neighbour Day started with a simple goal: bring neighbours together and celebrate the community.

Today, it’s an annual highlight, featuring parades, live entertainment, artisan markets, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. More than just an event, it’s a celebration of the neighbourhood’s welcoming spirit, where newcomers and longtime residents come together to create lasting memories.
