About
Brockton Point is a 4.0 km out-and-back trail located on Mount Seymour Mountain, offering stunning 360-degree alpine views with a moderate climb. As the first and shortest viewpoint along the Mount Seymour Trail, Brockton Point is a popular destination for those seeking big mountain views without committing to a longer summit hike. Taking about 1 hour and 33 minutes to complete, this route offers hikers panoramic sightlines of the northern mountain ranges, including Mount Seymour’s surrounding peaks and forested valleys, making it a perfect introduction to alpine hiking on The North Shore Edge.
Special Features
The trail to Brockton Point climbs steadily, featuring a mix of rocky and smooth gravel sections, with consistently increasing elevation. Much of the trail is unshaded and exposed, offering wide-open mountain vistas along the way, though there are a few brief forested stretches for respite. Once at the top, hikers are rewarded with spectacular views in all directions, making this a popular spot for photos, picnics, and rest stops before continuing to other peaks like First Pump or Mount Seymour Summit. Dogs are welcome on leash, and parking is conveniently located at the Mount Seymour Provincial Park main lot, right next to the trailhead.
North Shore Edge Tip
If you’re looking for big alpine views without a full-day hike, Brockton Point is one of the best options on Mount Seymour. Start early on sunny days to beat the crowds and enjoy the lookout in peace, and bring sun protection, as most of the trail is exposed. Be prepared for cooler temperatures and wind at the top, even in summer, and as always, pack out everything you bring in to help protect the fragile alpine environment of The North Shore Edge.
