About
Quarry Rock is one of the most well-loved hiking trails on The North Shore Edge, offering a moderately challenging, 3.9 km out-and-back hike that leads to incredible panoramic views over Burrard Inlet and Deep Cove. Most hikers begin their journey from Panorama Park in Deep Cove, following the Baden Powell Trail through lush coastal forest. However, for those looking for a quieter entry point, an alternative trailhead is available from Indian River Drive, connecting hikers directly into the same beautiful network of forested paths. With an average hiking time of about 1 hour and 20 minutes, Quarry Rock is a favourite for both locals and visitors, and is accessible year-round.
Special Features
This well-maintained trail features boardwalks, bridges, rocky sections, and stair climbs, all designed with safety in mind — including handrails and anti-slip steps on steeper parts. Dogs are welcome, with some off-leash areas along the way, making it a great choice for pet owners. At the top, the Quarry Rock lookout offers sweeping views of Indian Arm and the surrounding mountains, making the effort worthwhile. While the trail is very popular and can be busy on sunny weekends, weekday hikes or using the Indian River Drive access point can provide a quieter experience. Parking is available at Panorama Park, but fills up quickly, especially in peak season — additional overflow lots are noted on signage and local maps. Whether starting from Deep Cove or Indian River Drive, Quarry Rock is a must-do North Shore Edge hike combining forest tranquility and one of the best viewpoints in the region.
North Shore Edge Tip
After soaking in the incredible views from Quarry Rock, reward yourself with a picnic or some local take-out — you’ve earned it! Consider packing a lunch or grabbing a meal from one of Deep Cove’s fantastic cafés and restaurants before you head up. With one of the most breathtaking picnic spots on the North Shore, it’s the perfect way to savour the moment. Just a gentle reminder to pack out everything you bring in to help keep our beautiful trails and lookout clean and safe for everyone.
